The Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative is hosting a community birthday party on Wednesday, May 28, for the 60th anniversary of Head Start, a program that currently serves more than 5,500 children in 56 counties across Nebraska—and more than 40 million nationwide since its founding. The community is invited to join at 3200 North 30th Street, Suite 200, to celebrate Head Start’s impact on Nebraska communities and learn how they can take action to help protect Head Start for future generations.
May is National Foster Care Month, and the Omaha Storm Chasers are recognizing the Child Saving Institute as the Charitable Organization of the Game on May 27. A foster care team will be at the game to answer questions, share resources and connect with the community. The Child Saving Institute works to build a city where every child can stay close to the people, places and possibilities that feel like home.
Volunteers with AAA the Urban Nature Alliance planted 15 trees Tuesday in the Ramblewood neighborhood of Elkhorn. The group hopes to return in the fall to plant 150 more trees to replace those that were destroyed in last year’s Arbor Day tornado.
